LADD FORD C. LADD It is with great sadness that the family of Ford C. Ladd, 68, of Alexandria, VA, announces his passing on November 24, 2021, at home. Ford was born on May 23, 1953, in Chicago, IL to Martha Ladd Schickler and Philip John Schickler III. He grew up in Dundee, IL, where he graduated from Dundee High School in 1971. In 1975 he earned a BSME from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana, an MBA from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia in 1980 and, in 1983, a JD from the University of Richmond, in Richmond Virginia. Ford enjoyed a long and distinguished career, including being recognized by his peers as a "Super Lawyer" in Securities Litigation and Securities & Corporate Finance and Business Litigation, and admitted as an attorney and counsellor to The Supreme Court of the United States in 2013. As Principal of his eponymous law firm, which he established in 1984, Ford worked with members of Congress to pass key provisions in the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, Dodd - Frank Act, and JOBS Acts; submitted comments to the SEC that were adopted and have been cited more than 40 times in the SEC Regulation A Amendments and Whistleblower Regulations; and wrote an amicus brief for the National Small Business Association that was upheld by the U.S. Court of Appeals - DC Circuit. Chairman of both the Small and Emerging Growth Companies Committee and Securities Law Committee from 2000 to 2010. As a trial attorney for the U.S. Department of Justice he defended aviation-related claims against the United States in federal and state courts across the country, and in Paris under the Hague Convention. He served as the Wing Legal Officer and Cadet Orientation Flight Program Manager for the Washington DC metropolitan area and, as a licensed Mission Pilot and Legal Officer for the Civil Air Patrol, he taught aviation safety, emergency response and regulatory enforcement courses. He received a Wing and Group Commander's Commendation in 2006, a National Commander's Commendation Award for 2007-2009, and other National and Wing Awards for exercises in which he participated. Ford was a devoted friend, loved to sail, ski, entertain, and pilot his plane. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sister, Heidi Ladd (Nelson) Nast of Kansas City, Missouri, niece Olivia Ladd Nast Scheuerman (Francis), cousins; Larry Walsh (Marcia) and Sharon Ladd (Fred) Jauch, the Apfelbach family, Janet DeWolf (Dr. William), and Sue Abiad. Heartfelt thanks to all his devoted friends and especially Keith Harmon (Heidi Deupree), Eryn Hughes and caregiver Kadi Jatu Kamara. A reception in Ford's memory will be held after the holidays.
